TRAVIS IN HIS FIRST WOODEN BOAT

TRAVIS IN HIS FIRST WOODEN BOAT

Travis Hickman began crafting wooden boats in 1987 when he bought his first vintage runabout, a 16' 1961 Century Corsair (pictured). The restoration he undertook bloomed into a life-long passion and Travis is now regarded as one of North America's foremost authorities in classic boating, as evidenced by an impressive list of former clients including country music star Alan Jackson.

Though the methods and machinery used in the shop are state-of-the-art today, Travis learned his trade by crawling around on the lofting floor, laboring over full-size drawings developed by hand, picking up the lines, and cutting the patterns on a 36" band saw. No matter how big or small the project, Hickman Wooden Boat Works has the experience, talent, and passion it takes to get the job done in style.
